Roller shutter doors are synonymous with space-saving solutions. When choosing a roller garage door, we usually focus on the drive system and colour options. However, it is the element that forms the door curtain – the slat – that ultimately determines the functionality of the garage.
We distinguish four main types of profiles that can be freely configured in roller garage doors installed internally (RGW) and externally (RGZ):
- Solid slats: Filled with polyurethane foam, they provide thermal and acoustic insulation. Ideal for all types of installation. The colour version can be selected from standard colours as well as from the full range of available finishes.
- Glazed slats: Equipped with polycarbonate windows, they allow natural light into the garage interior. This is an excellent way to brighten dark spaces. One available solution is also a profile with window openings without glazing, most commonly used in shopping arcades.
- Ventilation slats (perforated): They feature openings that enable air circulation, which is crucial in combating moisture. However, an important technical detail should be noted: due to the design of the openings, ventilation slats are a solution recommended mainly for internal installation (RGW, RGZ). This allows their advantages to be fully utilised while maintaining maximum protection against external factors.
The final decision regarding the layout and type of slats rests with the customer. A roller shutter door is an investment for years to come, and a well-informed selection of individual components ensures reliable, trouble-free operation regardless of the weather conditions outside.
